A very merry Christmas Eve...my family is currently cuddled around our fireplace, watching Christmas Vacation - an annual tradition I thoroughly enjoy. My dad and brother watch and respond as if they have never seen it before (which is almost as refreshing as watching a four-year-old unwrap presents on Christmas morning), while my mother and I generally keep one eye on the television and the other on something a tiny bit more interactive - thus this blog entry.
The holidays are such an interesting time of year, full of love and warmth and dysfunctional stress. I think we all understand how that goes. So I'd recommend a heavy dose of Chevy Chase to cure any "way too much time with the extended family" headaches.
And I think that's my favorite quote from this movie..."why is the carpet all wet, TODD?" ... "I don't know, MARGOT."
and to quote my new favorite movie (JUNO)...
Paulie Bleeker is totally boss.

holy winter weather, batman
I think the whole batman catch phrase is definitely overused. but it generally makes me happy when I read it...so...
Anyway, I've been pretty awful at updating my online life lately, and there are a few updates:

Yes, I have a show at the 169 Bar on Wednesday. It's a nice little kick-off to my holiday break, and I'm really glad I'm doing it. It'll be a sweet, quick set - 30 minutes - and then we can all carry on. It'll be a good time, I promise.
EP update: the working title is "Call Me Out" - final mixes will be in my hands on the 20th! And then I must get it mastered. And then printed. ETA: January 31
My good friend Joe Kitsch is helping me out with the album artwork, and I am beyond excited about it.
I just finished watching all the material on Tegan and Sara's DVD called "It's not fun, don't do it" and it made me really excited to get my hands on all the footage I took while I was in L.A. It's all sitting on an external hard drive in the studio, and I'll get it back soon...and it's obviously not as great/high quality as I'd like it to be, but I still think it'll be cool.
The weather today is ridiculously nasty...which means I'll be holed up in here for a while. Hope you're staying warm and dry :)
heart,
Lauren
